Noreen Henry Technology and Computing Lecturer

I am a Lecturer in Computing in the Department of Enterprise and Technology on the Mayo campus of Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) since January 2000, right after the Y2K bug was sorted! 


Currently I deliver the following professional development and postgraduate modules: 
– Thesis supervision on the MSc in Digital Media & Marketing  
– Marketing Strategy Application and Theory on the Postgraduate Certificate in Digital Media & Marketing 
– Decision Theory and Data Visualisation on the Springboard Certificate in Business Analytics 
– IT Project Management and IT Operations Management on the BSc in Data Cybersecurity  
Other undergraduate modules I deliver(ed) include: 
Applied Principles of Marketing, Software Project Management, Social Web Strategy, IT Service Management, IT Training & Support, IT Systems Management.  


I chaired the BSc in digital Media & Society and the Certificate in IT Project Management.  
In recent years I have pivoted into the postgraduate area of Marketing Strategy Theory & Application and thesis supervision on the Master of Science in Digital Media & Marketing. I have a keen interest in programme development and am a lifelong learner. My previous industry experience is in software analysis and development in both the manufacturing and software industries.

Laura Hegarty Our Team 2023 Digital West
Laura Hegarty Digital & Technology Lecturer

Laura is a lecturer in Digital and Technology in the School of Business at ATU Galway with a special interest in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Digital Transformation and Digital Media Technologies. Laura holds substantial experience having worked in IT industry and higher education for the past 20 years.  
 
Laura lectures at undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive levels. Laura received the “Presidents Award for Teaching Excellence” in 2020. The President’s Award for Teaching Excellence recognises and celebrates teaching of a particularly high standard. The award recognises that excellence in teaching can arise in a wide variety of ways.  
 
Laura was a finalist for itag Excellence Awards 2022 for “Digital Woman in Tech Award”. Laura has played a formidable role as a digital mentor in ATU Galway’s online digital strategy for teaching and learning. In doing so she has coordinated and led numerous workshops and seminar series promoting and demonstrating the use of contemporary digital technologies in higher education and teaching and learning. 
 
Laura lectures and supervises on the MSc. in Digital Media and Marketing in ATU. She completed her MSc. in Education and Training Management at DCU and her undergraduate studies BEng. in Digital and Software Systems at GMIT. Laura received her global recognition and certification from CAST, USA for her knowledge and teaching in Universal Design for Learning (UDL). 
 
Laura is one of the core founders of Digital West. Digital West was setup in 2018 to create awareness of “Digital” in the West of Ireland linking businesses (in conjunction with ATU Innovation Hubs) and higher education (ATU Mayo and Galway City) to share experiences, knowledge by hosting a yearly event every January to connect and create our communities together. Digital West themes included: Cybersecurity and Trust (2022), Digital Transformation (2021), Remote Working (2020), Design Thinking (2019) and Digital Trends (2018).

2*MSc qualified technologist with over 24+ years proven management experience in small to medium size companies. Turlough is a highly organised, people and results oriented person. 
 
As part of a management team, Turlough oversaw the growth of a number of startup companies from inception to preparation for sale. He has collaborated in the development of ground breaking innovative software systems, technologies and solutions. 
 
Turlough has built teams, managed projects and recruited employees from around the world. He has made large capital acquisitions and investments. He has secured government R & D funding, managed contracts and implemented new systems with minimal budgets and resources. He has also mentored trainees, students and the founders of other start-up companies.  
 
Turlough has attended and presented at trade shows and business events. He has giving guest lectures and a competent communicator. In his role of General Manager of FotoNation, Turlough has been a recipient of European ICT Prize, the Digital Imaging Marketing Association award and the Irish Digital Media award.

Sharon Boyle Digital Media Lecturer

Technology Lecturer at ATU. Member of a cross-discipline design team for digital media and marketing technologies in ATU. Recent graduate in Masters of User Experience Design and Applied Innovation.  
 
Lecturer in Digital Media technologies, MarTech, Digital Photography and Video for the Web, HTML, CSS, Content Management Systems: WordPress, Joomla. Adobe products: Photoshop, Lightroom, Camera RAW, Premiere Pro, Dreamweaver, XD; Database Systems and Database Administration, Oracle Administration; Digital Technology and Digital Childhoods. 
Integrated use of ePortfolio systems and design and implementation of curricula and assessment to embed the use of ePortfolios using PebblePad.

Dr. Janine McGinn Researcher Lecturer & Entrepreneur

Lecturer and entrepreneur, Dr Mc Ginn’s professional entrepreneurial and managerial experience ranges from the establishment of a private education academy in Valencia, Spain, to executive direction of a multiple venue commercial operation in Dublin. Her current lecturing post centers on fostering post-graduate research in the School of Business at Atlantic Technological University, Galway-Mayo campuses. Research specialisms include entrepreneurship and leadership; organisational creativity and innovation, change leadership, and digital marketing strategy.  
 
Dr Mc Ginn’s recent research funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development focused on female leadership roles in politics and community development and Janine’s recently completed doctoral thesis provides new insights into the conditions for HEI Organisational Creativity and Innovation in the current paradigm-shifting technological University environment.
